Clare Winchester trained at Brighton Art College and graduated from West Surrey College of Art and Design. A post graduate course at Sir John Cass in London was followed by a successful one man show in the capital. She became interested in murals and trompe l'oeil which led her to teaching in London and Greece. Private works have subsequently been commissioned in the UK, France and Greece. Clare now works from her studio in Kent and she undertakes commissions for canvases, murals and trompe l'oeil. A new direction for her work is subtle abstract art, as opposed to pictorial. "My most recent work is about capturing emotion, colour and the expressive capacities of oil paint. The layering and fragmentation created by using this medium - as well as applied collage papers, tarnished silver and gold leaf - is constantly challenging. The images created are emotive, sometimes luminescent, often monochromatic." Ingrid Nilson is Clare Winchester's agent for contemporary art. | |
